For the first time in using YA, I have found difficulty in picking best answers.

Why do you think that your group (or those answering in the Sr. section) gives better answers to questions?

Experience, and we grew up with a different set of values, respect for other people, compassion. We were taught manners, werent raised like wolves, and had tons of other things to occupy ourselves with, and for the most part still do, so didnt and dont have the empty lives that you see here which lead people to strike out at others.

Our generation didnt "get off" on being rude, mean and ignorant. Doing something nice and caring made us "feel good" as a human being, now it seems ripping another person to pieces is what makes the majority of young people "feel good" about themselves. Its as if they all suffer from a sociopathetic disorder or some kind.

I guess we are seeing a whole generation of attention seeking empty unsocialized people who's whole life is being an internet bully, its sad really. it doesnt say much for the future of the western world when these "people" enter the workplace and government.

I just found the seniors section yesterday and have had a good time reading the questions and answers. I think the people answering in this section have some serious life experience to draw from in giving answers. The simple name of this section may be a deterent to some of the goofballs that post in most of the sections, so there's not so much trash to sort through to get to the good serious questions AND answers. Don't ya love it?

I think it might just be a difference in perspective about what QA is all about, and the motives for being here.

In most YQA sections the users are busy trying to force an argument, opinion, or dazzle someone with footwork. A lot seem to see QA as a debate forum, as opposed to a QA platform.

My thought is that most of the Senior QA users have already done all the debating they want to do. They recognize they aren't going to change the opinions of anyone else to better match their own. They know that, if they did, it wouldn't matter anyway.

So most Senior QA users are just here to mildly exchange conversation and occasional useful information.

Just my thought.

For the most part...in fact all part, seniors come from an era of civility....we are not anxious to vent, to get cute with answers in a rude way, and we do not like to attack others...a useless exercise that will convince no one of anything. Here, we are all in it together. When a question is asked, we assume that the question is real...we give real answers. The rest of YA! has gone down the tubes of indecency, outlandish hypocricy, meanness, you name it. Trolls have taken over much of this site, but so far, are rare in this section...give it time, they will be here enmasse. We had a couple yesterday, and believe it or not, NO ONE rushed to answer the troll's question! Good going, gang!

We give answers here that are REAL......not just the run of the mill you might get elsewhere.

The folks on this site are genuine, respectful and respectable. They know the meaning of the word friend. They have values and morals that, perhaps, are lacking in other sites. And they're not afraid to tell you, in decent English, what experience and wisdom has taught. No trashy talk on this site!!! If there were, I wouldn't be here.

The abundance of life experiences and wisdom from these great people helps each of us in our continued journey through this life.

And.....I've got a lot of livin' to do!

I think most of the older folks here don't really offer an answer to a serious question unless they think they can help. As for opinion questions, I believe the wisdom that has accumulated naturally as one ages and lives life just seems to seep out in the opinions.

We just tell it like it is, we are not out to demean anybody. Just stating our lives experiences. We enjoy answering or we all would not be here. We are not here for the points, that is for sure. and We don't care if we get best answer. So just go with your heart on picking it. We will not be hurt if we personally don't get picked.
Hopefully you enjoy our answers and get something out of it.
That's all we ask of anyone. Give us a thumbs up if you like it, and a thumbs down if you see a troll. Carry on, and welcome to this informative forum.

Hi Erik! I have the same problem, it is difficult to pick just one answer, just go with your heart and you won't go far wrong.
I think the answers are better on Seniors cos we were brought up in an age where we were taught respect.
Have to say though, we do have youngsters pop in on us and some of those are so pleasant and respectful, I'd be proud to call them part of my family.

Welcome to our happy little band! Sylvia x

We've gone through a lot of living. And we are still here (obviously). There are only a very few of us here that are shallow. The rest of us have had more than enough time to be introspective through our lives, and to learn to grow from it.

And we are not at all shy about sharing either.
