I don't know of anyone that enjoys spending money on the war. In war it's a kill or be killed mentality. I served in Vietnam and I didn't enjoy killing any one but you can't let some one kill you. I feel that the education should be controlled by the local municipality rather than the federal government. I live in a small town, population 4000 and the school board knows what is best for our schools. Health care should be a personal responsibility and they advertise health care for $90 a month for an individual. This is an individuals responsibility the same as automobile, home owners and life insurance. You would not expect the government to pay a persons auto insurance or their life insurance so health care insurance is in the same category. We pay taxes each time we buy gasoline, there's state and federal taxes. The politicians need to use the taxes from gas to only maintain the highways and roads instead of using for other things that have nothing to do with the roads and bridges

A bit of correction is needed in this premise. The republicans did not nor are they able to spend money on anything without the consent of democrats in congress. President Bush did not send the troops to Iraq. AMERICA sent the troops to Iraq. A resolution was presented to both houses of congress and passed nearly unanimously to send troops to Iraq. Several funding bills have been presented to congress and approved to keep the troops in Iraq.

So, your premise suggests that somehow, only the republicans (currently a minority in both houses) are taking money away from other priorities to spend on the war. This is not true.

The larger issue to me, however, is that the Constitution requires the Federal Government to provide for the common defence, wage wars, raise armies etc. It specifically states that other than the things it has lised as controlled by the Federal Government are not to be controlled by the Federal Governement. They are to be handled by the States and the people respectively.

To put it simply, the Federal Govenment has no business spending money on Education, Health Care, Roads or Bridges except in the case of the Interstate Highway System which was created to assist in the Defense of America if attacked.

That being said, to answer your question, yes. I prefer that the Federal Government spend money on war rather than the things you have listed and many other things they have no business spending money on or influencing in any way.

Schools fall under your state government , Health Care is your responsibility , roads ,and bridges are your city , county ,and state governments responsibility.

National Security falls under the Feds , as screwd up,and corrupt as the federal government is , do you really want corrupt politicians to have control over our childrens education , and your health care , they can not even balance a budget , yet you want them to build the bridges to drive over to take your children to a school or Doctor that is controlled by THEM , I am sorry , but I do not trust the Federal Government as much as you do , I mean look how long it takes congress to do anything , they can not even fund the troops in combat without including hundreds of millions of our tax dollars for peanut storage , and other BS , A politician in congress will never do anything for the people unless they can get something out of it for themselves ,Hillary wants universal health care ( not National) WHY ? because she has millions invested with American Health Insurance INC. which by the way is who she wants to handle the health coverage for all , she wants it for us so she can increase her earnings on her stocks , the same with the democratic talk of dropping our currency and switch to the euro dollar , Old ******** Bill has 10 million invested in foreign currency ( mainly in the euro) and even on the other side you have ole' mitt he was against abortion until a year or so after he had invested in embryonic stem cell research , he claimed it was a blind trust in which he had no knowledge of what he had invested in , yea right ! and here you are , you want these jerk offs to have control over , our roads , our schools , and our health care . Why would you want the federal governments standards and control over education when your state education system has already failed you. just think how much worse it could be for your children .

It makes for a more interesting news casts. You've got footage of things blowing up, bridges falling down, miners crushed in a cave in, compared to what? La la la, things as normal, nothing blowing up, nobody getting crushed and mangled. Like Rage says, "Somebody gotta shell em".
It makes every day exciting!! Will this bridge collapse? Will my job get out sourced today? If my kid goes to public school will he get killed? Will my kid get killed in Iraq or Afganistan? And the bonus is, if any of those things do happen, there is a good chance you get to be on the news! Mebbe even Springer! How can you not like that? Freaking liberals. No sense of adventure.

Sigh. You should have learned this in High School, but since you didn't. I will tell you why.

Roads and Bridges are paid for on the City and State level. This money comes from you paying your property tax on your home. Katrina, flooding, broken bridges ... etc. all falls on the lap of those local governments. But I have actually heard many people actually blame Pres. Bush.

Education, assuming your talking about public education, is paid for by your local government also. This money also comes from your property tax. If your child is a dummy, it's your fault! Here too, I have heard people blame Bush, because their child can't count. Or better yet, they blame Bush because they feel as if their teachers are "underpaid". But their pay is determined ... you guessed it ... by your Local and State governments ... not the Federal level.

As of now, providing Health care is not the governments job. It's yours! Now ofcourse, we could count Medicad and Medicare, which comes out of your paycheck along with your withholding tax, and social security tax, but I think your refering to something that excludes you of any and all responsibility of taking care of yourself. Fortunatly, that is not a govenment function ... as of yet. Out of all of the Government functions you can imagine (Post office, Tag office, etc.) and you want THESE PEOPLE to handle your Healtcare?

Spending money on war and killing people is the governments job. The primary function of the Federal government is to protect your God given rights. As they say: "Both foreign and domestic".

The core belief of Republicans is less government, less taxes. By definition, this means more Freedom.

The core belief of Democrats is more government, more taxes. By definition, this mean less Freedom.

The basic difference in the two is "responsibility". For some oddball reason, Democrates feel that it's the governments responsibility to do things for people "just because the people don't want to." If you can't afford healthcare for you and yours, cut your frivolous expenses. Do you smoke, drink, have cable t.v. ... go clubbing. How many ways do you blow money instead of investing in your own healthcare?

Ya' know, I heard Les Brown say: "We buy what we want, but we beg for what we need."

How does this quote apply to you?

Because war is financially profitable right off the bat to companies that the leadership is beholden to.

It probably wasn't such a good idea to make the CEO's of oil companies and military contracting companies in charge of the White House!

Just a thought.

You know what is so rediculous about most of these posts, they say "Democrats hold the purse strings" "Its a Democratic Congress ask them". Do people understand how long it takes a budget to go through? This congress just got elected, ther budget wasn't even submitted until July, and then its got months of red tape and appropriations to go through before the money is even available. So this is still the Republican Congress Budget.

Because local governments need to step up, it's not always Bush's fault of the federal governments fault, local Governors and mayors need to start doing there job, That Bridge i Minnesota is NO WAY IN HELL BUSH'S fault, local Minnesota government and inspectors should have been on top of that, just like the local NEW ORLEANS Government should have fixed the Levi's a year before Katrina hit, AS THEY WERE TOLD TO!!!!!!!! Education, it's local governors and Mayor's responsibility to ensure state funds are used correctly. It's not always Bush's fault, we also have a Congress, state congress, Mayor's, and Governors

EDIT, YOUR WEAK POINT ABOUT DOT FUNDS ALLOWED,
Local GOV, gets the money allowed in there budget every year, did you ever hear of financial irresponsibility, it's called local government not being able to properly manage a budget.

Democrats do it too. Look at all the earmarks being passed. The last war bill, the Democrats got several million for pork projects that do not benefit the people. What do they do with that money? I have no idea....
