Being from the States, I'm biased towards a healthy gun culture. Guns, not laws, make us all equals. If I have a gun and you don't, I make the rules. The best you can do is stay on my good side and hope I care about fairness. Guns have been around for centuries...they're not going anywhere.

What do you want to prevent? Certainly not our rights to own arms I hope.
If you want to prevent the tragedies that result from guns when they are used to break laws then you would have to get behind laws the had stiff enough penalties to make the law breakers think twice before they used one in the commission of a crime.
No one will ever succeed in removing guns from the hands of the criminals. Until this happens good folks will want a way to protect themselves fro them.

Make sure that legislation is passed to take the guns from all the law abiding people so that only the bad guys have the guns. At least that is the theory of Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

Buy a gun. The best defense against a gun is another gun. Ever heard of a thing called the 2nd amendment?

What pending gun culture? You mean the one we've had since the beginning of this country?

The gun culture isn't "pending", it's "declining", and when it "declines" completely, you will be absolutely at the mercy of your own government.
And heaven help you if that government ever morphs into something sinister.

teach your children right from wrong from the old school and make sure they can shoot straight.get rid of those baggy saggy pants that fall to their knees and keep a well trained militia on hand to prevent the spreading of infidel ways on American soil . hold the politicians liable for bad decisions, like the citizens they are holding in prisons for unknown reasons.

I am guessing it is declining. I live in a rural area and hunting has always been a big deal to us. Kids now days are moving away from it. Video games, cars, girls, drugs, and drinking have replaced outdoor activities.

Guns aren't your problem. Tolerating crime and depending on others to defend you from it are. I fear you are developing a passive victim culture.
