Yes! I used to have over 100 of his books. I am not ''star struck'' by any means and I can only think of one other celebrity that I would walk across the street to meet. Of course I know that Mr. L'Amour has passed. I would love to have met him. I use to be somewhat of a cowgirl and I could just imagine being at the places in his books. He was so descriptive! I loved how he would add so much insight into historical events too. He had experienced a lot in his life.
The only other celeb. that I would like to meet is Robin Williams.

Oh yes even though I am a female. I enjoyed them and use to read them after a male friend picked them up the day they hit the book store. I loved some of the different books by him also as they were not all westerns. He is/was a quick refreshing read.

Hello,
I enjoyed his books. Actually my favorite book was "The Walking Drum" about a fellow who takes off from England in the 1300's and travels with the caravans along the silk and spice routes of Eurasia.
Cheers,
Michael

I used to read L'Amour's tomes back when he was writing them. I'd usually read each new one when it came out.
I've never been back to reread them, though I do still occasionally read some of the other western writer-contemporaries of L'Amour.

I saw the film Riders of the Purple Sage and absolutely loved it. It starred my favorite actor Ed Harris. I haven't read any of his books but I would like to.

I did have, and after reading them all until I remembered what was comming next, I gave them away. I will wait and year or two and start over again. He was probably the best western author ever.

LOUIS USED TO LIVE ON THE STREET AND SLEPT IN BOXCARS BETWEEN VOYAGES WHEN HE WAS A SAILOR. I NOW LIVE IN SAN PEDRO, CA, WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF WHERE LOUIS USED TO TAKE A NAP. I MISS HIM AND THINK OF HIM OFTEN.
