I have been on depo for more than 8 years with no problems. I quit menustrating more than 7 years ago. I do not have problems with spotting or breakthrough bleeding. However, I just went to the bathroom and am a bit scared as I seem to have had a large amount of bleeding within a thirty minute time span (I was in the bathroom thirty minutes ago and noticed nothing). I do not have any abdominal pains or other symptoms right now. Does anyone have thought on this? Should I panic?

I do believe that is a side effect from the Depo shot. Several years ago, I took the Depo shot. When I began the shot I had a period for about a month, maybe two, and then I didn't have a period for three years. Then one day, when I was at work I started my period, and of course I didn't have anything with me. But anyway, when I started, I had a period for 3 months. I went to my doctor, and they did a blood test, to check my hemoglobin, and I think he did a pelvic exam too, everything was fine with me. But, you should check with your doctor, just to check your hemoglobin levels, if your bleeding that much it may be low.

I ve been on the Depo for at 6years. I just got a shot on 12-10-15 and on 1-21-16 I started spotting lightly and had a headache well by Fri-Sun it was like my period was on but not real heavy. Why is this and what could be the cause? I take the shot strictly so I don t have a period because they were terrible heavy and painful

I'd go get it checked out. I was on Depo for 5 years and never bled.

Its normal for depo.

Have you had a bone density check done? You should get one every five years you are on depo.

No, do not panic, that won't solve anything. You should call your doctor and if (s)he can't see you, go to an ER or urgent care center to discern where the blood is coming from.
