As for me I cant wait. It looks fantastic, and lets face it, Yankee Stadium may be the most historic stadium in baseball but its old. It doesnt have some of the amenities that other ballparks have.

I think it will be a good thing. They are keeping the same dimensions which is the most important aspect. The current stadium is not really the same one that Ruth played in, anyway. It was totally gutted and rebuilt, just the outside facade is there and it is looking pretty worn.

What I'm not crazy about is it will have fewer seats. That's nuts because they practically sell out every game now. Of course, it will be more expensive for tickets, too, but what else is new.

Not really, I'm going to miss the old stadium. I mean the greatest players ever played there. There's so much history there. Like the Yankees slogan on YES says: The New York Yankees, where players become legends.

As a fan of ball parks and history, I am saddened. However, the architects have developed respect for the game and how the venue should be. Unlike the football/baseball stadiums of the 60's and 70's, the new stadium should be enjoyable and I will look forward to seeing it.

Less seats, more expensive tickets?

Steinbrenner's obviously not going for the average fan....

And how exactly do you judge Yankee Stadium to be the most historic? Fenway's still got a mechanical scoreboard, and it's older too.

If it's going to be as spectacular as advertised, we're in for a treat. As I pass it everyday on the 4 train, I can see teh steady progress. I'll miss the track that was there but it'll be worth it. I hope they don't tear down the old stadium. That should be considered a national and/or historical landmark.

Mixxed feelings...

No question that I am going to miss the old stadium. But part of me is going to like newer nicer bathrooms and concessions. Yankee stadium bathrooms are disgusting and the concessions are very outdated. So that will be nice.

Also Yankee stadium only has one bar and restaruant in it, and you need speical passes to get in them. I would imagine the new stadium will build bars and rests. that will be open to all.

The other thing is that the tickets are going to be even pricer then they are now. Personally, I have not trouble getting the tickets every now and then, but its getting much harder for regular famlies to go to games. And I imagine its only going to get worse.

I guess its time for a change but I still love the old Yankee stadium. I get goosebumps seing the infield from the tunnels.

Hopefully it will entice more great players to want to play in New York. I know when the Patriots built their new stadium, with state-of-the-art training facilities and spacious clubhouse, they drew the attention of players that not only wanted to win championships but wanted the comfort and convenience of Gillette's amenities.
