English Grammar:Editing and passive voice.Pls help?

Change this sentence into passive voice.......GRASS GREW OVER THE FIELDS.

To answer your second question first concerning putting the passage into the passive voice:
It cannot be done. Only transitive verbs–those that take objects–can be put into the passive voice. The verb grew is intransitive. This sentence CANNOT be put into the passive voice.

Passage to be edited.

This passage has problems. The whole passage needs extensive revisions. I have no idea what the dashes mean, nor how extensive the editing can be. Do the dashes indicate where the edits are to occur? My rewrite changes some of the elements in the passage, but at least my paragraph is smoother.

Here is a possible rewrite:
I can’t help relating an incident which occurred when photography was in its infancy in that country. Cameras were like big boxes then, and many photographers considered themselves artists. They took pride in this newly discovered art form. When a person came into their studio to be photographed, the photographer issued many instructions to the subject. I had the misfortune to be a victim of one such proud artist. I complied with each one of his instructions, only to discover in the finished photograph that it did not resemble me at all.

The only change I might consider in the above passage is in the first sentence. I’m not quite comfortable with the two “ins.” (In its infancy in that country.)
