Alan C: LOTS of gay couples have children. Are you saying, then, that straight married couples who cannot reproduce should not receive the same benefits as fertile couples?

For all you people who claim that gay marriage will contribute to the moral decline of society, does that mean that you think your morals will go south if gays are legally allowed to marry?

It doesn't threaten me at all. If you find someone to love who loves you back and if marriage is the route you want to take, go for it.
Gay marriage will threaten the moral fabric of society? How? What about all the people out there that aren't married and spit out kid after kid all by different fathers and go on welfare. Isn't that more of a threat than gay people getting married. They won't reproduce so won't have a passle of brats on welfare for us hardworking people to support. That's more of a threat to the economic welfare of society as far as I'm concerned. Also to the moral fabric as those people have no morals or they wouldn't be sleeping around with anyone that comes along.

Here's the only way I can figure gay marriage would threaten me.
Suppose a gay male couple live next door to me. My gay neighbors and I get into a heated argument over their dog crapping in my yard, or some such silly thing neighbors argue over. I might have to get into a fist fight with two guys rather than just one.
That's the only thing I can imagine and that one is a stretch.
btw: If your avatar is a picture of you, you sure have nice....ummm.....eyes. Yeah, thats it. You have a very nice pair of eyes.

It doesn't threaten me. I think that it is made out to be a bigger deal than it is. I don't care about a persons sexual orientation. But I also don't care for PDA from hetero or homo sexual couples. I think if they truly are living together as a married couple then they should be able to have the same benefits. Conversely if the marriage tax penalty is brought back they should be treated the same as any married couple.

Immeasurably.
My heterosexual fiance would feel that our wedding has to compete with all her gay friends' ceremonies in addition to all her straight friends' ceremonies. It's nearly a year away and I'm already sick of hearing the minute decisions and details about the size of the centerpieces and types of flowers and the dresses all have to match and her cousin might be pregnant so she can't wear that style and my best man is taller than her maid of honor ENOUGH!!!
It's not easy to find a skilled photographer and caterer within our budget; allowing gays to demand these services as well would increase the rates they might charge, making it even more difficult for us to reserve who we want.
That's about it.
By the way, humans cannot marry animals or children because animals and children are not consenting adults who have authority to sign a legally-binding contract or an official document.
If people are okay with civil unions for gays, then why allow heterosexual marriage if the benefits are the same as civil unions? What's the difference, huh? Civil unions aren't good enough for straights now?

Freedom of thought threatens the corporate dictatorship.
When the republicans say they are threatened by gays and abortion and sex before marriage i take them for their word.
If people start thinking that they can marry who they want, not marry at all or even not have children, then what could come next? People who don;t want to pay for war? people who would prefer to spend their tax money educating and lifting the poor rather than spending ten times more on jails and cops? What about people who don't want to be ruled by corporations? People who want to return sports to the community level and out of the corporate entertainment business?
The world could be very different if gays could marry. People might start getting a crazy idea that there is a choice to working like a dog to not even be able to pay for a doctor or for your kids education.

Gay marriage doesn't threaten anyone. It's a wedge issue meant to divide us and distract us from the real issues that face our country. Denying gay couples the right to marry is denying them Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Gay rights are most definitely the Civil Rights movement of today No one wants to marry a horse or whatever, that's a ridiculous argument. If you want to protect marriage from anything, protect it from divorce.

By advocating behavior that I don't agree with and that is not natural. Ten years after gay marriage becomes "Normal", we get two dudes holding hands at the grocery store and kissing in the hallway at my high school. Then we wind up with a generation of people completely confused sexually. Non gays will try gay activity if they are unsure of what is right for them.
Same sex activity will increase ex potentially even though most people will still not really be gay. Society simply becomes hedonistic.
My morals personally will not change, but our next generation will become morally challenged.

Gay marriage in and of itself, does not threaten me at all. Gay couples should have evry right, privelege, responsibility, and liability that every one else does, just don't call it marriage. Marriage is a sacrament in the church. Making Gay marriage legal is a violation of the separation between Church and State.

It hasn*t threatened me in the least.
As for not being able to reproduce that is a lot of baloney.
There is always artificail insemation, and then they get to choose exactly the type of father they want for the offspring.
They pay taxes, why not get the benefits too?

In fact, gay marriage does not threaten me whatsoever, nor does it threaten my marriage. What happens between consent adults is really not anyone else's business.
