Okay people, there is no need to be hateful to me. I appreciate your help. I just wanted to know why I had to go to court if I had already been deposed. I did tell the truth in my affidavit, there is no alimony being requested from the wife, she can't sue me for alienation of affection...Man, I thought this was a place to ask a question and just get a quick thought/answer, not for people to be rude. BTW...just because the name on here is william doesn't mean that I am not a woman. I appreciate the helpful parts of your answers but I don't appreciate the rude comments.

Who was being rude? Except for maybe that one person who questioned your name and only because it had nothing to do with your question.

I thought the answers were very thoughtful and correct. Just because you don't like the answers doesn't make them hateful or rude.

I said I hope you told the truth, because, as I already explained, they are calling you as you gave affidavit evidence which they want to cross examine you on. I didn't want you to suffer. People when swearing affidavits are telling their versions of events which may or may not differ from the real events.

Didn't realize hoping you wouldn't get in trouble was rude.

Also didn't realize that others advising you of what may be to come in the future based on your testimony and giving you a heads up was rude either.

Fine, you want a quick answer:

You have to go or you could be arrested. You have the right to an attorney and you have the right to refuse to answer a question if it would incriminate you.

Also , this "question" is not a question, man are you rude since you are in violation of the Y! Guidelines as this question is merely a statement.

If you think that the answers you received to your other post (at least to this point) were ‘hateful’ and ‘rude’ then you have some extremely sensitive feelings. Not one person made a comment along the lines of “you’re a homewrecker”, which could be considered a bit snippy. But you weren’t subjected to that, were you? You were simply given honest answers to your question *without your character being called into question*. Get use to bluntness, because that’s what you will be treated to in the court. Given the situation, you should be adult enough to handle that.

And, *I* was the one you questioned your 'male" name and that was NOT rude either. It was simply an observation.

I went back and read all the answers in your previous question. I found no hatefulness. Most the answers were sound legal advice and answered your question. There were a couple other scenarios, legal ones, that could apply to the case. I don't think you have been given any bogus or prejudicial answers. Back to your question, yes, you are required to appear in court or be held in contempt.

I am sorry you had a bad experience and that is not what this site is about. I wounder though are you asking a question about subpoenas or just making a statement?

Yes, if you are subpoenaed, you have to appear or face failure to appear charges and/or Contempt of Court Charges and a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.

A DEPOSITION IS AKIN TO THE DISCOVERY PROCEDURE IN A CRIMINAL PROCEEDING....ITS MERELY ARMS THE ATTORNEYS WITH THE FACTS AND POTENTIAL TESTIMONY...WHEN YOU APPEAR YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE QUESTIONED...BUT YOU DO HAVE TO BE AVAILABLE IN CASE YOUR TESTIMONY IS REQUIRED.
