Yes.

A "stern talking-to" basically is saying "you'd better not do that again." A child will be left with the question "or else what?" and the parent will be watching to see if it happens again.

On the other hand, a spanking is the end of the episode, and leaves the child no doubt that actions have negative consequences.

Spend a day in a junior high school (grades 7-9) and then wonder if corporal punishment is needed. I worked in such an environment two years ago and I was stunned by what "kids" were doing and the stuff teachers had to take. I honestly believe teachers should be able to use corporal punishment from third grade up.

No way,violence hardly ever solves anything.I am a teenager and frankly speaking my parents prefers to talk things over with a calm and rationalised head and trust me it can do wonders.
