These people deserve the death penalty or at least a life sentence because they truly have nothing to contribute to society and are just a waste of space.

Because a modern, democratic country is supposed to be a nation of laws, and uphold the principle that everyone deserves their day in court. Believe it or not, law enforcement makes mistakes, and innocent people get charged with crimes. The court process is supposed to get to the truth of the matter.

Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Innocent people get sent to jail, guilty people go free, and unscrupulous officials use the court system to reward or punish friends and enemies. But before you automatically condemn these people to life behind bars, consider what would happen if YOU were the one accused. Think it can't happen? Think again, and open your eyes.

This is America and everybody gets a second chance. Americans by nature or very forgiving and we all try to look for the best in everyone. Pedophiles are at the top of my sh*t list, but men who rape and murder women are #1. Many Pedophiles were once victims themselves so I think that is why we try to see if they can be helped, but I agree we must make sure through legislation that there is not a 2ND time around.

If found guilty I feel they should be punished in town square and have it on television. This may sting fear into the filth that have not been caught yet. Therapy has not been a real winner in changing the behavior of the child molester.

It is part of the justice system. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Although I have no use for pediphiles, I see more ex-wives using this to prevent visitation of their ex's with children. Sometimes it is true but most times not.

I agree.

The problem is LAW, everyone, courts and so on must interpret the law and apply it as IT allows, absent that, the courts would be in violation of that law themselves and with that, they are in trouble also.

To change the law is the trick. Yet, with politics as they are it is difficult to make good law sometimes...

It should be proven.

That being said, punishment should be greatly increased for pedophiles. i.e. the death penalty.
