A week or two before it is time to deliver, you start running around....ok, waddling around....cleaning everything in sight and preparing your house for when the baby gets here! It is an instinct and you feel almost obsessive.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

"Nesting" is a term given to particular activity that females perform just prior to giving birth. The instinct began prehistorically, literally making a "nest" for the birth. In modern times, the instinct still survives but is so sterilized it may be barely perceptible. It usually involves a "cleaning frenzy" in the house, getting things in order, moving everything you can get your hands on. There seems to be a surge of energy that goes with or precedes this activity, and labor usually follows within a day or two, sometimes sooner.

It is the stage in pregnancy when the woman starts to prepare the home for the arrival of the baby. They clean and organize and arrange furniture. Stuff like that. As if they were birds creating a "nest" for the newcomer.

Nesting is when your body and hormones start seriously getting ready for the birth, urging you to have everything ready. Think of a mommy bird who is laying eggs - she has her nest all ready for the baby bird to emerge. Human nesting can take different forms but usually appears in things like wanting everything at your home to be totally ready for baby, having urges to clean out all your closets or totally clean your house from top to bottom. While these things are good to do before baby comes - after all you won't have time after - its not good to exhaust yourself doing it. Take it easy and do it in small batches. Don't get over tired before baby arrives! Good luck!

Nesting is when you start getting ready for the baby to come. You start making sure to get things clean that you normally would not have thought about cleaning before. You start setting up everything in it's place for when the baby comes home.

Its what pregnant mothers may do when the baby is ready to come. Cleaning, fixing, organizing, sometimes obessively to get ready for baby. Some say a natural instinct. Mostly done at the end of the pregnancy.

Sometimes closer to the birth of your baby you will have a sudden urge to clean the house top to bottom and become obsessed with being "ready". Bag packed, etc. It's normal natural and fun. You actually get a sudden burst of energy for all this cleaning and it comes durning the time in your pregnacy that you are normally feeling sluggish.

Number one...don't refer to yourself as retarded. It just makes you look ignorant.
Second, nesting is your motherly instinct to have everything in your daily surroundings ready and safe for the arrival of your baby...mine kicked in around 36 weeks with both of my children.

Animal instinct. Getting your "nest" ready for the baby. I.e. Cleaning, sorting out what you need, looking after yourself etc.

Yes. Just what Kimberly said. You might all of a sudden become a clean freak and want everything organized. You will think of anything and everything to make your new baby feel at home. Don't stress over it too much though.
