Because they're a minority group
If you laugh at the ginger kid, they won't all band together and beat you up, cos theres only 3 in the school.
Oh and most of you are talking about ginger girls, they get it easy compared to ginger guys.

Negative stereotyping I guess, I have a ginger partner and I love his hair. Its also quite a rare colour(most people are blonde/brunette) and I think its a great thing to be unique.
Red hair is beautiful, its fiery and the colour red itself has connotations of passion and love, a great colour!
Don't forget, stereotypes are a way of communicating ideas with people, often very false representations of a whole group of people, I am blonde and have spent a lifetime being referred to as a bimbo, not because of my level of intelligence or intellect, but because of my hair colour. I even had a boss that called me names referring to my hair colour.
Small mindedness hey!

Because they are jealous. I love my hair colour, its vibrant and attractive.
People who take the piss out of red heads are no better than people who are racist/sexist/homophobic etc. Also, I hate that people think its ok to disrespect red-heads. Its not ok, its just like being racist/sexist/homophobic and just as hurtful. Since when did hair colour really cause offence to anybody.

It seems the redder I make my hair, the more I am perceived as being "wild"...I admit, mine is dyed, but it does suit me.
The gingers of the world probably get the rough time because they are easier to spot.

i am a natural redhead too and when i was at school i took alot of stick....as i got older and after i left school lads started to notice me, i have had a few relationships and they don't seem to mind the colour of my hair...my son is a red and he's got a little boy who's a red....some people are prejudice towards redheads, but we are unique....you could never buy this colour in a bottle, not in a million years....proud to be a redhead....
Nova wtf are you talking about, you have no idea....my father is Danish, most Scandinavian people have red hair and blue/green eyes, but it don't make us anything to do with the devil.....jeez some people just ain't got a clue....

People assume we are all the same and have bad tempers as there are many myths that state as such. The truth of the fact is we are like all others. Some of has have bad tempers and some of us have patience. One thing we do have over others is a higher tolerance to pain...funny that! :)

suppose it started about the Middle Ages - red hair is genetically very seldom, like green eyes.
somebody said, red is the devil's colour, the colour of passion (and the church is not for passion, never was ;-) ), so red heads must be associated with the devil (ie they be witches) - and that prejudice still exists today.

Some people think that people with red hair are quite unattractive. I do not agree, as there are many women with red hair that I think are beautiful.
