Theres no magic reason why this is so, its purely because the manufacturer sees an advantage for itself and spends lots of money in that particular area in an attempt to dominate it, its another form of advertising nothing less than that, Theres not much coverage of drag racing here in Europe which is a shame..(dont know about stateside)...put it another way, you can ask yourself why ducati and honda rule on the race tracks and thats for exactly the same reason, they spend the most money to make sure they do..Believe anything other than that and you may as well believe in the tooth fairy and father christmas too!

If you are referring to AMA Pro stock I think you should be asking why Suzuki and Kawasaki are so much faster than everyone else. Harley is only in the top 10 in Top Fuel.
The reason is simple, including Harley. Who has the most money and the best supported platform for modification. If you look at a Top Fuel bike there is little resemblance to a stock motorcycle engine.

My personal opinion is a bike is only as fast as the person who can ride it , Yes these drag racers are professional riders but some may not be as good as another .I have a VTX1300R its fast and a Friend has a Vrod and its suppose to clean my clock but I beat him every time ,Now another Friend of ours who's been in the drag racing circuit rides the same Vrod and smokes my a*s*s .He just knows how to ride better than me .So of course now when we are at a stop light I will point my finger down the road before light turns green so he looks opposite direction and I have the 1 second lead over his Vrod .Motorcycle cruiser magazine does have Suzuki as fastest bike then Yamaha, Honda and Harley as forth but that's in the middleweight division /peace

Man, The only thing I'm sure of is: Bikes have air in their tires. We've got a great Yamaha near by ( the same guy who bought the new crate 572) But I don't pretend to know crap about them. I did see him unload a pair of yellow crotch rockets last Spring. They were supposed to be worth around 200 hp.
