Have you had an ultrasound yet? I tried to figure my own conception date and it was off. The Dr. did the ultrasound and my exact number of weeks and days I've been pregnant popped up on the screen. It was amazing. I was only off by four days but it was still nice to know. Good luck with the new Dr. You deserve to have someone who will answer your questions and help you with your fears. You are close to your due date so you need to know whats going on. All the luck to you.

Due dates are always an estimate, I'd ignore your own calculations and your doctor's too and just let the baby come when it comes, especially since there's some uncertainty with the due date. I understand you feel fed up with being pregnant but the healthiest thing for your baby is usually to let the baby decide when it's ready to come out. They only go by your last period because it's often impossible to know exactly when the baby was conceived, but they really have no idea exactly when you ovulated so it's common for due dates to be inaccurate by a couple of weeks. Pregnancy is 38 weeks from the date of conception, so they usually estimate 40 weeks from your last period figuring you conceived on day 14 of your cycle which is just based on averages - some people ovulate much later in their cycle or have a longer cycle than 28 days. Unless you know exactly which day you conceived you could BOTH be wrong. It doesn't sound like your doctor is an idiot, it sounds like they're making an educated guess based on the info available, same as you, and arrived at a different conclusion. Chill and enjoy the last bit of peace and quiet you have before you're caring for an infant 24/7.

Basically the same thing has happened to me during this pregnancy.
The last time I was pregnant, I knew the exact date I conceived. This time I was trying really hard to get pregnant, so I was unsure.
Anyway...by my calculations, my due date should have been Sept 29. My first ultrasound moved the date back to the 23rd and the 2nd ultrasound said the 20th. So now, I just don't know.
If you have a date from a very early ultrasound, I would trust those results the most. There's not much size variance in early pregnancy, so usually the earlier the better. But they're still only accurate within 2 weeks.

General rule of thumb is to go back to the first day of your last period as day 1. Count forwards 9 months. This is not completely accurate as of course you didn't get pregnant the first day of your last period, but this is the old way before ultrasound & give's you a good idea. Ultrasound can tell to within 2 days of expected due date under normal situation. Your health condition matters also, you can go early, you can go late, we are all different. The feet swelling so bad would concern me. What is your BP running? Keep an eye on it closely. Feet swelling go with high BP which is a symptom on eclampsia & this is life threathening to you & your baby. If you do not know what your BP has been running, I would get it checked, if you get headaches, blurry vision, dizziness go to ER. Eclampsia is fairly common, but at the point you are at being due very soon is easily treatable if caught in time with a C section. I was just like you, never knew a due date, he kept changing it. Went to a new doctor at 7 months for feet swelling & high BP which my first doctor was not treating, found to have pre eclampsia, at 35 weeks I went full blown eclampsia, (short of having any seizures yet) & had an emergency C section. That was 17 years ago, both baby & I done great. I don't tell you this part to worry you, but only because if your doctor was a bimbo like you think, this is a serious complication & feet swelling can be one of the first signs.

The most accurate due date is from the first day of you last period. Ultrasound dates are not as accurate as they work off baby measurements and not all babies fit the mold (bigger / smaller). So if you know the date of your last period or check you doctors chart if you have forgotten, then I would stick to that. It will be the most accurate.
Otherwise the first scan you had (probably in the first 12wks?) is going to be the next most accurate as all babies develop the same till 12wks and then start growing differently.
My girlfriend had this happen but in reverse, her due dates kept getting pushed further ahead and it turned out her baby was born nearly 3wks overdue and weighed 10pd. Ouch!
good luck, I hope it happens soon for you

Your due date can change depending on the size of the baby. The last period due date thing is not near as accurate as an ultrasound. It sounds like you are getting close regardless. It will all be over soon!
