and just arrived home to find that someone has strolled in and stolen all of my belongings.

Am I partly to blame for not locking the doors or am I at worst, just a little naive for thinking it was ok?

clever! ......you should have locked your doors but I won't hold it against you and abuse you forever for your mistake

I wish you all the best in getting your things back

As long as you are in a skilled profession such as a doctor then do not admit any blame. If there is a police investigation going on, find fault with it constantly and start up a blog about your new running times

Good luck, you can always set up a fund, but dont make it a charity then you would have to tell people what you were spending the money on

Your house insurance will not pay up because you failed to secure your house reasonably ie lock the doors.
You are not to blame for the theft because nobody should go in your house with out your permission and the law still applies to the burglar but you are on your own when you have to replace the posessions.
Lock the doors next time.

If you checked every half hour it might be OK. But you would not be blame if one of your most precious belongings was stolen, it would be the fault of the thief.

In this instance I would probably create a complete **** and bull story to cover your tracks and to make sure you can maximise your claim and limit the blame.

you do know this invalidates your insurance right?
its is society as a whole that is at fault, you for being that daft, and the burglar for being an ar*e.
do you not watch the news? people stroll thro locked doors all the time and twoc belongings, but at least the insurance is good then!

You are to blame for it slightly...But it is a bit obvious that someone may have been spying on the street. It's not like someone would just walk up to a door and see if it's open.

not naive but you are partly to blame as you did leave doors open, no one these days would leave there door unlocked nowadays, if you have insurance they may not pay out due to this.

Little naive, and your house insurance probably will not cover because you left the door open

strangely enough, i did exactly the same thing today. i went into town for 2 hours and i left my back door unlocked and all of my upstairs windows open. when i came back all was well . i hadnt been burgled and the house was just as i left it. and i've done it before.

I think you stole it and hid it so you can claim your insurance money. I think you’re lying about what has really happened because you are showing no emotions and appealing to us the public. Therefore, I think you should go to jail and the rest of your belongings to be confiscated forever. Only then can we all live happily ever after.

I think the majority of people in here would agree.

Take care

This is a cleverly disguised mcCann question isn't it?

If you did this you would be very silly indeed and you would not be able to claim on your insurance as you knowingly left your house and belongings accessible to possible thieves.
