Has anyone met a legitimate telepath or telekinetic? And how accurate or effective are their "powers"? Would you consider a person genuinely endowed with such inborn ability as normal or normally a freak?

Please only serious responses - I am writing a research paper

There is a one-million dollar challenge to anyone who can prove they have psychic abilities at this site:

http://www.randi.org

Skeptic and professional magician James Randi heads this group. If someone approaches them with a claim of psychic abilities, they will design a test. If the applicant can do it under controlled conditions, they would win one million dollars. No one has ever passed the test.

Telekinesis can be taught, it is the ability to move objects not read minds, reading ones thoughts is called clairvoyance and hearing them is called clairaudence the ability to contact spirits and converse with them is called a medium, premonition is seeing an event prior to it happening and precognition is the feeling of an event happening without the sight of it, feel free to email me if you want any more info. And the final answer to the question is yes many people around the world have these abilities.

I doubt it. The brain has to teach itself communication skills and has a language all to its own. If there was a means of direct brain-to-brain communication, the two brains wouldn't speak the same language so one brain wouldn't know what the other brain was saying. There could be no meaningful telepathic exchange.

Psychokinesis I think is much more a metaphor or image of will. I think most people have imagined that sort of thing, but I doubt anyone has achieved it.

If your research is broad enough, you might check on meditation and that group that prays for specific people. Some put forward the theory that people meditating or praying for someone (I consider prayer a form of meditation) puts the mind in a state which can effect other minds around it.

NO. All those that claim psychic/telekinetic/telepathic abilities are lying or are mislead themselves. If any person can prove that they really have ANY abilities, there is a $1,000,000 prize waiting for them. No one can do it. The famous "psychics" all claim that they don't need the money so they won't prove it. But if they really had powers, why would they not just prove it, take the money and give it to charity.

randi.org has the info on the prize.

Yes, they exist. Yes, I know people who possess such powers.

Do you believe me? Probably not. I wouldn't believe you if the situation was reversed.

You'll get a lot of answers to this question. The answerers will be strangers who probably don't know any more than you do about the matter.

If you want to learn about the subject without having to sort through a lot of anonymous answers by strangers, about whom you know nothing, including whether they know anything, there's a way to learn.

The reading list below can act as a source for you. Most of the titles can be found in your local library. If they don't have them they can borrow them from another library.

I am not aware of anyone who has not thought of a friend and gotten a call a few minutes later from that friend. I think everyone has the ability to sense others, while some choose to ignore it. What else could "intuition" be?

I do believe I have read quite a bit of proof regarding this. I cannot remember any site but yeah. I do believe that it is possible because it would make sense. brain waves are just electronic waves and if one were able to tap into the full potential of these they would possibly be able to move objects or read other brain waves.

Definately! I know world famous Sandi Anastasi. She's a teacher of mine, and an amazing woman. If you are writing a research paper I'd recommend the following books. They are very very well researched and relatively up to date.

Warning: reading these could alter your view of reality! :)

Likely, you have experienced telepathy yourself and wasn't aware of it. It is naturally occurring between pets and masters, children and mothers before speech is developed and its known by intuition. I experienced it very traumatically when I lost my infant to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and often when my surviving children were in danger.

We only use a small portion of our brains. It's highly possible, in my opinion, that some can tap into a larger percentage.
