Durango is a beautiful town and there are a lot of things to do. I think it is kind of expensive, but you might think it isn't. There are many retired people in that area. The weather is just about perfect.

Housing in Durango is very, very expensive compared to the rest of Colorado. It is a town that many people desire to live in; however, there is not a large economy and very limited job opportunities.

That being said it is still cheaper to live there than most large cities in the US, particuarly on the coasts. There are lots of outdoor activities for all seasons and close to good skiiing. Not much in the way of night life unless you want to hang with the stoner college kids from Ft. Lewis.
