The Democrats have no shot at 2008 for many reasons
1) 14% approval rating
2) Increasingly conservative American society
3) Iraq war being seen as a necessary evil
4) Prospet of higher taxes

Though victory for the GOP is not guaranteed there are several factors that increase our chances.
1. The Hillary Factor: Hillary Clinton is a decisive figure like President Bush, perhaps even more. You either "hate" her or love her. Her candidacy will cause republican voters to turn out in numbers we have not seen for a long time
2. The Pelosi Factor: Instead of getting things done in congress, they have spent all their time trying to find new and creative ways to make fun of George W. Bush. They have spend all thier time calling him incompent, yet everytime they go up against him they lose.
3. The Patreaus Factor: casulaties are down, and most expect General Patreaus to report that the surge is working. Victory in Iraq is bad for the democrats.
These Factors do not guarantee a to put a Republican back in the White House but they will help. I predict that Republicans will take back the house or the Senate, maybe both.

Because the dimmocraps are doing an even WORSE job of being in charge of Congress than the repooplicans!
... a sidebar - when the repooplicans were in control of the Congress, the "mainstream" media had articles all the time about how the dimmocraps could regain control of government. Now that the dims are doing such a sh*tty job, notice that there are NO articles or editorials about how the repoops can regain control. If THAT's not indicative of the liberal bias of the "mainstream" media, I'll turn in my pirate hat! Aaarrgh!

Mainly because of the job the current congress is doing.
The job of the Legislature is to pass laws, this congress has mainly been about holding hearings about the past, not about what they can do for our countries future.

The Democrats have become their own worst enemy. With an approval rating in the teens the Democratically controlled congress has been a disaster.
