Go up to file edit in the menu bar and select Save As, and then choose to save it in My documents, and thats where it will be and name it. Then if you need to access it .
Go to My Documents and Double click what you saved ( the name) and it will open Word and the document.

1. I understand that u want to fill a little bit of colour into and autoshape or something and not completely fill it. So for this i think you should create another autoshape( as per u feel to colour and mark its boundry line as white. fill the req colour into this new autoshape and put it under the main one.

2.for this save the text in notepad or something and open it in ms word.

hmm...from the way i understand it you wanted to know how to fill an autoshape partly...hmm...havent tried it...when i want something like these done I use a different software...like flash, paint, or photoshop. then paste it to word.

hmm...bout your second question...do you want to make the file smaller? well it wouldnt save everything. just whats on the page itself...one character = 1 byte i think.
