In a pond filter is the ultra violet light supposed to strobe?

I have been fixing my pond filter and noticed the ulra violet light is intermittant, is it suposed to be or should it be on continually

No, it should be constant. Unplug your filter when working on it, you may just have a loose connection. RScott

Sounds like the bulb is loose or defective. You may have a loose connection somewhere.

No. That's a sign that your bulb is old and needs to be replaced. Most manufacturers recommend replacing them every year.
