Got a surprise vacation with boyfriend who I have long distance relationship with, havent seen in in 4 months. But my period is due to start while on vacation with him. Kind of spoils the reunion. I am on the patch, any way to stop my period from coming and skipping it just this once?

I don't know how the patch works, but (if it's like the pills) I would imagine that you could just put on another of the regular patches and skip the week where you don't wear a patch.

As long as your boyfriend is okay with it, you could have sex when you have your period. It won't hurt either of you, and might help your cramps. (place an old towel on your bed or do it in the shower since it can be messy) Just remeber to use a condom, since it is possible to get pregnant when your have your period.

It IS ok to skip a period once in a while, but don't do it all the time.

You CAN skip periods, it's just a longer process than you may think. Your body is used to cycling regularly, so even if you put on a new patch instead of leaving it off for a week (I'm guessing that's how the patch works? I use the pill form), chances are, your body has been expecting to have a period - you will most likely have breakthrough bleeding or a full blown period anyway. When changing your monthly cycles, it's important to do it gradually so your body has time to adjust.
I'm on 3 month cycles for medical reasons and my body is doing just fine with it. BUT I was on 3 month cycles several years ago and had constant breakthrough bleeding for other medical reasons.
It's never good to just trick your body into not having a period, you only have maybe a 50% chance of it working & then the next month your body is confused. It stinks, but I think you're either going to have to reschedule your vacation or deal with the possibility that your time together will be cut short by an unwanted visitor.

As I am not sure how the patch works I don't know if you can or not but there is a way with the pill.

I use to do it when I was on the pill for situations like yours but don't do it very often because it will mess up your system.

What I did was, I started skipping one pill every week but not the same day each week, for example one week skip monday, the next week skip wednesday the next friday.

What that does is, although it takes the protection level down a little it gives you a few extra pills to take later, your period does not start until you stop taking them for 2 days so I did it enough to have 4 extra pills then took them at the end of my cycle which pushed my period off by 6 days.

If your going to do that, make sure he uses a condom because you have reduced the effectiveness a little and when you do allow your body to have it's period, the cramps will be more sever then normal because your playing with your hormones but it does work.

With the patch, I don't know if this is possible but it's the only way I am aware of to postpone your period.

It's not a smart thing to do, it can mess up your hormones big time if you do it too often, but it does work.

You know if you do have intercourse while your on your period you will find that it is much more satisfying then when your not because your sensitivity is much more intense and you will be able to reach levels of extasy that you can't even imagine. However a lot of men can't deal with it so we woman don't always get the chance to experience it.

There is NO WAY you can just skip your period. its impossible. All i have to say is Be Prepared. I know it sucks and it spoils your whole week (haha) but theres no way you can skip over it. it just comes. Make sure you have a Tampon or Pad in!! Ohh and have fun on Vacation!!!!
