It does depend. I seem to be one of those people who switches to a softer clearer English, when I'm in company that wouldn't understand my accent. If I'm in local company and others are being colloquial and rough, I do too.
It's all accidental and happens quite naturally. As a hypocrite, I cringe when I hear some people attempt to sound well spoken, when they aren't.

Well I defiantly do not speck the Queens English but I do try my best to speak well.
I don't like swearing and I hate it when every other word out of a persons mouth is a swear word, especially now I have a child!

I don't know, no one has ever commented either way, although people did use to make fun of my posh accents but I think 20 years of being here has localised it.
