Make it stop raining.

And send some of that our way, we could really use it.

Mushrooms are the fruiting body of a large underground network. They mostly indicate that your soil is healthy and they do not damage your lawn in any way. They will stop fruiting after a week or two. If you don't like the look of them pick them and put into the compost.

BTW, "toadstool" is a folk term, toadstools and mushrooms are the same thing.

There is a possibility that somewhere down in your soil are wood scraps from construction lumber or tree branches rotting away. Some of the spores might have bloomed into mushrooms.

If you have Fairy ring, in late Summer, fruiting bodies, Mushrooms, appear. You need to sprinkle entire lawn with dolomitic limestone instead of the usual ground limestone. Mow close to the ground where brown ring appears and apply copper or iron sulfate as a drench. * info from Reader's Digest: Illustrated Guide to Gardening.

Why would you want to? They're a sign your grass is happy. Anything you do to try and get rid of them will ultimately hurt your grass. If you don't like the look of them you can kick'm, pick'm, mow'm or just wait a day or two. RScott

Are you sure that they are not toadstools? I live in the midwest and every so often we will have toadstools (some will get pretty big) and I am told they are poisonous.

No need to stop them. Mushrooms show that you have good soil.

Those are "Toadstools", NOT mushrooms.
DO NOT attempt to eat. Poison.

With all the rain they thrive. They will disappear when dry.
