Every 5-10 seconds, my mouse suddenly freezes. I can't move it or click something or use the scroll. Everytime this happens, the red light is still on. My computer detects the mouse. I already cleaned it. Now what am I supposed to do???

I've had this happen with an optical mouse from Logitech. Two more things to do, maybe three. 1] Clean the area you run the mouse over. 2] Change the batteries, and 3] re-boot the mouse. One of these always works for me.

first make sure it is plugged in properly
easy thing to forget when you get frustrated.
check for a break in the wire, gently feel it with you fingers
make sure no dust has got in to the contacts
If none of that helps, then yes you might need a new mouse

what type of surface do you have the optical mouse on ?
Make sure you dont have it on a reflective surface
Other then that have you tried it on another computer to make sure it works in general ie with another machine and if it does then its not the mouse
Might just be the drivers or something else

if you have a optical mouse, maybe there are problems in your system drivers, or your mouse is too old enough that's why it sometimes fails.
