Living alone can be creepy. Could you get a small dog or cat? A security system or a roommate? If you really heard voices and couldn't find them no wonder you were scared. If you don't think you can call 911 because you don't really see any danger, call a friend instead. You can talk to them, if something happens you can scream and they'll call 911 if you can't. Your jitters don't mean you're stupid. There really are creepy people in the world. But there are lots of good ones too. And ask your neighbors to let you know if they are having construction. Good luck. =-)

I used to get really scared after watching Unsolved Mysteries, especially at night. I always thought the stories were true and really believed I would see a ghost, UFOs, murderers, etc.
Now that I am older I don't get scared so much when home alone. But, if my dog starts perking up like someone is at the door, or in the house I get nervous.

That happens to me all the time. It really freaks me out when my dogs and/or cat are just staring at the wall or ceiling. Do you think it could be ghosts? Sometimes it's so creepy I have to distract my pets by talking loud and playing with them. I also will talk loud as if someone is there with me, just in case there is a stranger lurking in my house. I just wanted you to know that you are definitely not alone on this one and no, you are not stupid. Stay safe!

Well Ive never been scared like that but there has been times when im alone and I feel like theres a pressence of someone you know like you get when your sleeping and you feel someone is starring at you. It could be just my imagination or my mind playing tricks on me because there never is anyone there. I just get wrapped up in being scared that sometimes I will let my mind run away with me.

Ooh yeah, one time I was at home alone (my son was with my mum) and I was in the kitchen and the Iight went dim and I felt a warm presence for about 15 seconds. I even said 'Hello/' (silly me), but it was quite scary.
You're not stupid though.

i used to be afraid to be alone in the house but as you get older or when your more familiar with your house you get used to the sounds a house makes when it settles. just make sure you all keep everything locked and stay by a phone in case you do need to call for help. if it helps call a friend to talk you through. good luck

No, not at all....its good it was something you got a laugh out of it afterwards.
you might want to think of enrolling in some type of self defense class, they're alot of fun and may help calm you a bit when you are feeling alone a nervous

I know what you mean. Even though my house isn't that old (the whole neighborhood was built in 1992), I have to remember that the GROUND on which my house was built was inhabited for EONS by other people! They may still be around!

It could be the ghosts of your loved ones that have passed away. Don't be scared of the dead...only the living.
