...are you sure whether perhaps it's the hit song "I'm Going to Be (500 Miles)", by the Proclaimers, as featured in the 1993 romantic screwball comedy, "Benny and Joon"??? (...the phrase, "...a thousand miles" is mentioned). Here are the lyrics:
