I am considering a piece of resort property in Western Illinois. My question is about some people that are renting space on it currently. The Real Estate Agent says they have 1 year leases.

I would like advice on the best to way to move these people off the land. I have no problem honoring their agreement, but after their lease expires, I would like to clear the land.

Also if you could give me advice on the pest way to protect myself from legal action while they are still on the property, and beyond.

If you buy the property, you are bound by the terms of the lease. You are NOT under any obligation to renew the lease unless the lease specifically requires you to. Depending on you budget, you could offer to PAY the renters to leave early. Any contract, including a lease can be changed if all parties agree.

Listen to Steven so far he is the only one who knows what he is talking about! That only includes the 2 answers above him as that is all I have seen so far!

Some of the crap posted around here is damn scary and should be taken with 1/2 or less a grain of salt!

Sounds like you need a real estate attorney. If they have children, you may have some problems getting rid of them.

Evict them all off the land once you take possession. I never keep tenants, most lt because they have their own ideas of how to manage things (since they were there first).
