I like Dean Koontz but also Richard Laymon. He did one about Jack the ripper which is really graphic. You couldn't go far wrong by trying the old masters such as Edgar Allen Poe and Dennis Wheatley.

I love Dean Koontz. I have nearly 40 book of his. I thought The Taking was great. My boyfriend never reads so I gave him that book to read a few weeks ago and he's nearly finished and really enjoying it. I loved Seize the night and Fear nothing. But one of my favourites is Twilight eyes.

I loved this book, not only because of the creepy parts it also has a twist that is really awesome. Keep reading and enjoy.
P.S. you should also read the Odd Thomas series from Dean Koontz, that's a good read.

I just finished his book 'The Good Guy'. I liked it, the bad guy is pretty original and I liked him alot. I've read all of Koontz's books. He's come along way from his early stuff. He writes in a couple genres, Sci Fi, Horror, suspense and mystery. They aren't 'War and Peace', but for easy reading they are great. I can't remember 'The Taking', but I'm sure I read it. I like his 'Odd Thomas' series. Enjoy all of them!

I read the Taking and it had its moments with me too. For the most part his books aren't as scary as they used to be. His earlier novels like Lightening, Strangers, Midnight, etc were scary. I am also waiting for the third book int that series. He's left us hanging for years.
Try reading Stephen King, his books are way scarier.

I love his books and he is my inspiration for wanting to write myself.

Lightning and Strangers are my faves, I haven't read many of his latest books: but I will.
