I just brought a new grindstone today but to sharpen my chisels I was told that I need to buy a bag of sparks. So far I'm having no luck as every tool shop I been to the assistance seems to burst out laughing saying, 'We've sold out! you moron!'. So where else can I buy them from?

A bucket of sparks. Five gallons of steam. Sky-hooks and board stretchers. No shop is complete without these items. But they are hard to find because they've been discontinued. So, forget the local hardware stores and speciality shops. You need to venture into those simple mom-and-pop operations; you know the ones with dugout basements filled with trinkets from yester-year. Or try pawn shops specializing in older tools. That's the only place you can find them these days.

Who told u that you had to buy a bag of sparks? I would go back to that person and tell them off, okay not really tell them off but they are making a fool out of you....

If you really want to see the sparks.... go ahead and sharpen your chisel... I guarantee you will see sparks flying everywhere. Then go back to that person who told you you needed them and make a smart remark back and tell him that incredible enough you found a bag of sparks...

Good luck....

This is just a clever marketing ploy. You can make your own sparks at home, with your new grinder. Don't be suckered into buying "accessories" you don't need.
