My rankings would be like this:

Alex Smith. This guy's numbers have been improving, and he's got all the tools in place to have a breakout similar to Carson Palmer.

Eli Manning. He's been in the playoffs twice, but mostly due to the legs of the recently retired Tiki Barber. He's indecisive when he's under pressure, and doesn't make the smart plays when the game is on the line. This season (without Tiki) will either make or break Eli's career in a Giant's uniform.

David Carr. He's a very good, very underrated quarterback. The only reason he's not ranked higher is he's now a backup in Carolina. I think if he didn't waste away behind that terrible offensive line, Carr might have had more success, and could possibly be at the top of this list. Remember, he did guide the Texans to a 7-9 record in the 2nd year of the team's history...not bad for an expansion team (I believe it was).

1.Alex Smith(right now I think he is on the best team of the three and the 49ers are going to have a really good season)
2.Eli Manning( Of the three he is the most high profile QB playing for New York Giants.)
3.David Carr (He had a major set back playing for a team that wasn't much of a team. If he finds the right opportunity he will be much better)

Alex Smith: Starting his 3rd season: very good supporting cast in Frank Gore 5th ranked running back, Vernon Davis (#10 ranked Tight End), Darrell Jackson (ranked 20th among wide receivers).
(Terry Bradshaw didn't really hit his stride until his 4th season)

Eli Manning: Is gonna hurt this season unless he steps up and starts running the show. He no longer has Tikki Barber to take the heat off him. Brandon Jacobs is probably gonna be his starter and he is no Tikki Barber, and starting his 3rd season. Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer rated at 23 and 33 respectively are gonna have to get it going, especially Toomer. Jeremy Shockey, #3 rated Tight End is the big bright spot on this team.

David Carr: Back up. Has all the skills including passion for the game, but was brutally mistreated by no offensive line in Texas.

Eli has lead his team to to the playoffs twice so he is number one. Alex Smith has done nothing but I think he is poised for a breakout season. David Carr is older, but he did lead the league in completion percentage. So I would have to rank them like this:

Eli Manning
Alex Smith
David Carr

Alex Smith then a toss up. I'm picking Carr next because you can't pass from your butt so I think he may have been better had he had an offensive line.
