Odor is usually caused by bacteria, which you have to kill to eliminate the smell. Bleach, vinegar (which is safe for colors), sunlight, and heat will kill cooties. Do you know what the odor is from?

Husband has stinky socks, which regular warm water wash and detergent won't remove. Vinegar works great, and it is not as caustic as bleach. I buy it by the gallon and pour a cup or two into the socks and undies loads.

Use baking soda alone and do a normal wash cycle with no clothes inside, and also try not to reach the centrifuge, because it might cause some wear on the machine as it's not made to work without clothes (some weight). Afterwards, use detergents like Bold, it smells really nice. Also what I do, I buy ironning water from Comfort, which smells heavenly, but I don't iron with it, I just spray that water with a fine mist spray onto my clothes after ironning and let it dry. It won't crease again if you hang them right.

Tide is the best, but it is so EXPENSIVE!!!!! After buying everything else that I have to buy, I just cannot afford it sometimes and I live in a middle income range household! I like to use Cheer or even Purex. Neither ever fades my clothes and always leaves them smelling fresh and clean. I also like to use Downy Liquid fabric softener in the Vanilla and Lavender. It makes your things smell so nice. The scent is not overpowering though and that is what I like. If it is really stinky, I would wash it by itself and let it sit and soak once the washer fills up. Or clorox works good too, that is if it's white. You could use the clorox for colors! Hope this helps! Have a great day! :)

For heavy duty washing, use whatever laundry product you wish, then add a l/2 cup of detergent and a l/2 box of baking soda to that wash. Then you should place your wash on the "heavy" setting. When the load has completed itself, then run the wash with a l/2 cup of vinegar. After this, you will need to wash the clothes one last time with God's pure water. This will take out any residue that might still be left in your wash load. You will be happy, your body will benefit and you will have rendered yourself, safe and sound. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace and God Bless.

Just add baking soda (about a 1/4 cup per load) to your regular detergent.

Another good odor-killer is the sun -- sun dry them if at all possible, or hang on a plastic hanger, and let it be outside with the sun and the breezes.

Add a cup of vinegar to the load.. it makes the smell go away and your clothes won't smell like vinegar either!!

Another thing I like to do is add liquid fabric softener to the wash with the detergent and the smell stays with the clothes :)

Hot water and put lavender, peppermint oil, eucalyptus, in the water. Gives it a nice smell. I even sprinkle drops over the place as well. Also get a orange and sit there for a hour and poke cloves into it so its totally covered and sit it in the room and the smell is great as the juice of the orange seeps out through the cloves giving a orange clove essence.

Soak your clothes overnight in Tide and the next day rinse and wash in the washing machine with new detergent.

Seems like "Arm and Hammer" would be good since it contains Baking Soda. I also think I saw that Tide will have Baking Soda too.
