I don't have all of the data, however aside from beng energuy eficient, the lighting can cause seizures in people prone to them. I have opted for a lamp in my kitchen in lieu of the overhead (most of the time)~I keep the lighting low anyway, and have my fair share of sunlight and heavy releases of seratonin. It is difficult for me to concentrat under the bright white austere lighting that is dominant in stores ~ now making its way into our homes.....it is NOT a readily available piece of trivia...no one is talking about it. i honestly cannot recall what else happens, I only know tht at he end of a workday, my skin feesl 'waxy'.Some people don't seem to mind, But I do!
I am very interested on what you might know abou this and were you aware that the posiblities of seizures is real in this instance? it blows my mind to think that what is being touted as energy saving does the diametric opposite to uS...what are your thoughts????I am open to belief and disblief...and more data.....

brk: It "IS" substantiated...how dare you imoply without first checking it out.have you researched this?I HAVE. the migraines mentioned are real....you hae a lot of audacity in proclaiming to be an expert (your manner) so look it up and see. Yo might be surprised that your ignorance is replaced by data and you will actually learn something. yo ugive the impression as well that this is a throw away society. ...and that you are part of it. I will always stand corrected if I am wrong, but YOU take a moment to ponder how you came across and how little we ALL know. Do yourself a favour and check the scientific findings of this ok?

Wow... I had a funny answer I was going to give when I saw the question... but then I clicked on it and your very serious. (Not that I'm saying your not right to be). I'm of the opinion that anything man made is bad for us somehow. (No, I'm not some freak in a cult). Everything man creates has a positive, and a negative affect. Is the way of life. Hey... it kinda is like life.... there's a positive and a negative side to everything.... hey.... maybe I oughta go to the philosophy section today.... I might be on a roll...

I used to have problems with the old "Day light" or more accurately blue light because of the UV component.
These were MUCH cheaper about 15 years ago.

Now they have many different colour balanced bulbs that have various hues.
I rarely run into issues these days as most companies that had the old ones got enough complaints to quit using them.
It cost more in lack of employee productivity.

As a side note... It only a small minourity that are sensitive to the UV flashes. I am one and most can't even see it. I've ask my fellow workers.

I was not aware of what fluorescent light can do to a person, but can understand after reading other answers here how they could affect one's health in the long run if one was exsposed to the wrong kind on a long term basis. Hopefully they will continue to improve this product.
