This totally depends on what you are painting..and your location, type of paint etc...type of doors and windows..french doors and windows, skylights, how high of ceilings, color changes, how many colors, stains etc..New construction is cheaper than repaints due to stains, holes, patches etc..feel free to e mail me and tell me what you are painting, [pictures will help, brand and sheen of paint etc...Personally as A licensed paint contractor in Florida, I never do A repaint by the foot price, I simply look at the over all job, see the condition of the project etc, then price it that way..all new work I do by the foot...but it depends on the factors mentioned above...

I charged $15 to $20/hr. Sq. ft. in some instances. Just don't accept the least expensive bid without questioning how they intend on painting. Such as spray or roller? Ask for the usual references too...and check them out!

When I started my business many years ago, I and others just doubled the cost of the materials. Now, when I retired after twenty years in the contracting business I charged $8.00 an hour, it comes out to pretty much the same.
You have experience and you gain knowledge and speed.
