The truth is it's really up to you. My husband used to call his daughter a baby 'till she was 8. Ha ha! And my sister still refers to her 30 and 23 year old sons, as the "kids". My brother stopped calling his son a baby, when another one came along. He was 2 at the time.
I guess they stop being a baby by 1, when the become toddlers, and by 2 they become small children. But I personally call them babies until they're 5. It's such a sweet word, I love using it.
I just had a baby would probably stop by 3months or so... But sometimes 8months later I still feel like I "just" had a baby. Time really flies.

Infant birth to 3 months. Baby 3 months to 1 year. Toddler 1 year to 3 years. Child. Or is this a trick question?

Well a baby isn't a baby when they can walk and talk I suppose (18mths + and they are a toddler) but you can't really say "i just had a baby" more than 6mths on. After that its more of a "I had a baby X mths ago"
I still say my 2.5yr and 5 yr olds are my babies though, so as a mum it never really stops, even when they are teenagers and beyond. My mother still calls me her baby because I'm her youngest child but I'm 25!

'Just had a baby' stopped by 3mths for me..
I stopped thinking my baby was a 'baby' when she started walking and saying more than a few words, probably around 13 or 14mths. Then she became a toddler to me.

LOL! My baby. . . . . . .
<--------------------
I will always refer to as my baby, because he will always be my youngest. Even when he is 21.
As for the "I just had a baby" line, I tended to stop saying that at about 2 months old. But thats just me, everyones different.
But to answer the first half of your question properly, I would say a baby is no longer a baby once they have their first birthday. "sniffle, sniffle", therefore my baby, according to myself, is no longer a baby.
Cheers, Claire.

well, my daughter's 4 and I stopped saying I "Just" had a baby when she was, like, 6 months old.
However...I'm 31 years old and still my grandmother's baby...does that count? lol
