In general, no but there are exceptions, of course.
One thing that I find odd is that women here frequently say something about how difficult housework is when they do it but it is not at all worthy when a man does it (and no, women do not clean better).
Then there are those who claim to be the better earner between themselves and their husband who then turn around and claim there is a "wage-gap" that prevents women earning as much as men.
So much hypocrisy.
Portwine's answer is good but perhaps a bit on the high side. As a rule (with a few exceptions) even a man who is disabled better be getting a benefit check or he'll be seen as unproductive and useless, no matter what.

you didnt put this question into perspective at all!
and as for the answers you already got they are biased!
in todays day of equality and then the ever present affirmative action that never went away .....as you can see it needs to be put into perspective. if you want equality then give it , and that means he is at home and she is at work everyday with out the guilty trip most women put out!
As for an answer no its not a myth !
As for the lazy guys out there, i say get off yer butts and get the house thing done, i do! mow the yard , do some washing and floors ! yeah spank the brat for whining to get candy when there is some crackers in the cubbord !
ok well you get the pix right ?
as for me i have ben runing a company for 15 years cause i cant get hired due to a broken back!! so i have been doint the house thing and working on the weekends when i can! yes i do the house thing and mow the yard then some wash etc , and no i dont like the guys that sit on the fat behinds and do nothing like a lot of women i have met in the past few yeats ! all they know is snacks and day time operas ! ! !
i personally have better things to do with my time then watch tv all day and complain how i need a new tv !

I guess it depends on the woman. If the couple has kids and she wants to get back into the workforce full-time then she'd have to be pretty comfortable with it. I think it's a good idea - the woman has to go through all the work of carrying around the baby for nine months and then giving birth to it, so if the husband takes care of the house and children while she works, I think it's even

I would only be comfortable with this if my husband actually done all the same work I do. If I come home from work and he has had a day at home with the kids the house is trashed. If he does the dishes he never finishes the cutlery or wipes down the benches, he leaves wet towels all over the floor, leaves wet clothes in the washing machine for 3 days etc etc, but i love him to bits and he is a wonderful husband so its just as well he earns the better wage!!!

I would estimate that only about 20% of women would tolerate their man taking care of the house and not earning any money while they were out earning what it takes to support the household financially.

Its no myth, women will tolerate it for a little while if they are really cleaning, cooking, and doing the kid thing, and who "gets" to work full time? People HAVE to work full time. My man didn't work for a little over a year and we were on the verge of throwing 7 yrs away over it. He finally got off his ***, now we are doing much better.

I believe both husband and wife should be working, paying the bills and taking care of the children.

Most women aren't interested in supporting a man's lifestyle. Sadly, many of them would gladly let a man support theirs.

"Toom pokes shall strive"
it is an old Irish proverb meaning a man who does not bring home the bacon will have a household of strife, and problems.
You can take it from there.

no I used to work with a girl whose hubby did not work and it put so much of a strain on their marriage then finally got divorced because she figured out he was just lazy and wanted her to support the household which her job could not do . Now she is with a husband who works and she works as well and they are happier than she has ever been . good luck .
