Hi guys !

I am planning to build a PC. I searched many forums and sites and discussed with friends etc to find a perfect system configuration for me.

To be honest, I had a difficult time choosing the best manufacturer for each components.. I even posted so many questions in Yahoo answers itself. Many Good guys helped me.

Here is my final configuration :

Intel E6850 Processor
Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi AP Motherboard
1 GB DDR2 (800 Mhz) Memory X 2 (Total 2 GB in dual channel)

XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb XXX edition Graphics Card

160GB Seagate SATA Hard Disk
Sony DVD Writer
LG 17" Monitor

A good Cabinet with good ventilation
PSU 450W or 500W

I personally think that it is a good, Stable, reliable, Durable Configuration which runs at high efficiency with high performance.

What do you think guys? Any suggestions on motherboard or another components? Only after getting reply from at least five people, i will confirm this configuration.

Thanks to Everybody.
Sim

Looks good.

Your PSU is fine. 450 Watts is all you need for a single graphics card. SLI you'll want atleast 500W. the newer Core Duo CPU's dont use nearly as much power as the P4's. Youre better off buying a higher quality brand than more wattage. Just make sure it is a brand name PSU and not retagged brands like Rosewill. You don't want a Rosewill frying your system.

Your HD is good. You can always buy another if you need extra space and then setup a RAID and install a second swap file on it. But really, most people don't use anywhere near 160GB.

Make sure you buy from newegg.com. Their customer service is the best in the business, if anything goes wrong, they'll take care of you with priority. Building your own PC is CHEAPER alot cheaper if you know where to look and how to build. Diagnosing problems isnt that hard either as long as you make sure the hardware you purchased is compatible with eachother and you're smart.

Never buy from Dell, gateway,hp,etc. All the major PC manufacturers are cash strapped so their customer service is crap and you have to force them to make good on warranties. You'll wind up fighting with someone from India if you get any defective hardware. Their high performance hardware is very expensive compared to what youll find at sites like newegg.com.

I just built a computer for $800

19" lcd, 200gb hd, AMD 5200+ cpu, dvd burner, keyboard/mouse, x1950pro graphics card, plantronics headset, 1 gig dual channel ram, xclio 450watt psu, gigabyte motherboard, very well ventilated case (rosewill does make good cases). You just cant find a deal like that at dell for $800.

I've been working w/ PCs for 25 years. I got tired of building my own PC years ago. Why?
1. You don't save a whole lot of money nowadays.
2. If something goes wrong, it's hard to diagnose the problem.

Example:
I bought a new Dell Dimension 9200 w/ Q6600 (quad 2.4GHz), 2GB RAM, nVidia 7300 videocard, DVD burner, 80GB hdd, no monitor for $650 two weeks ago. It screams! It's silent (BTX mobo). I installed a 2nd videocard to drive 4 monitors: 3 20" and 1 19". Popped in a Seagate 750GB hdd for $212. I'm a happy camper.

My 2 cents:
1. You've chosen pretty good parts, except:
A. 160GB hdd is too small -- go for 320GB
B. Plextor makes the best DVD burners
C. LG makes good monitors, but 17" is too small -- go for 19" and make sure it rotates.

If you really want the hot gaming rig, I'd suggest a Dell Dim 9200 w/ E6850, then add-in the videocard and RAID 2 WD Raptor drives. You also realize that LCDs don't have slower refresh rates than old-school CRTs, right?

Good luck.

That is very nice, you have chosen very well indeed!

For the power supply i suggest an Ultra 550w(or i think there is a 600w) its always better to go a little overboard on the power supply. I have a 550W Ultra in my computer, it was 50$ on tigerdirect.com and i put the 600W Ultra in my brothers computer(because he has SLI) they work perfectly, mine is going on its 4th year now, no problems whatsoever, my brother is going on his 2nd year no problems.

oh yea and if you are planning on playing games, i suggest a 2nd Gig of RAM, and also I am a very big fan of the Creative X-FI SoundCards, they are very good. I have the cheapest one too, the XtremeMusic. The X-FI Fatality XtremeGamer Edition is very good too! The soundcard will take more information off your main processor so it can deal with the main application making everything smoother and sounding better.

WOW! What an envious set up (only in my dreams, lolz). It deserves an Antec, Lian Li, Coolermaster or Thermaltake case. Also consider a bigger monitor and a power supply complying with ATX V2.2 or 2.3.

Sounds great - I would just add a second HDD and mirror the drives for a complete data security.
