I had a pelvic laparoscopy on Monday (8/20/07). Three days later (yesterday) my vaginal bleeding changed from the brown spotting I've been having ever since the surgery, to more of a red flow. My period is due for this cycle on Sunday(8/26/07). I generally have clockwork cycles of 27-28 days. Today is CD25.
I am having cramping, but it is hard to tell the difference btwn the pain I have been experiencing post-surgery and menstrual cramps. It's still only been 4 days since the surgery.
It does kind of seem like my period is trying to start early. (If today is CD1, my period is 3 days early).
I was curious if any of you have had a laparoscopy, how quickly did your body heal? Were your cycles any different post-lap?
And also, did anyone experience your periods coming on early post-surgery? I have read quite a bit about delayed periods after a lap, but I can't find much info on an early menstruation post-Laparoscopy.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Yes, a laparoscopy can change your cycle because of the surgery itself and for some the period can come early. I've met a few that have had it happen to them. The first few periods after a laparoscopy are the most intense.

I've had 4 laparoscopies, 3 of them to check the status of my endometriosis. It can take about 1-2 weeks on average to recover from a laparoscopic surgery but it depends on how much work was done during the surgery.

It can take up to 6 months for the body to heal for some because of the fact that the insides are still tender even at 6-12 weeks post op.

I would recommend that even at 8-12 weeks post-op that you continue to take it very easy and be very careful about lifting things. I found this out the hard way after my 3rd laparoscopy overall that when I tried to lift something that it was too painful because of how tender my insides were.

Ever since I had the surgery my periods have been unusual. The first one was mostly crampy...the second one I hardly bled and the cramps were minimal and now the third, hardly no blood just dark brown clots and servere cramps to the point I felt like I was going to throw up. Been taking lots of advil and feel horrible. I m reading post that say it can takes months before your body gets back to normal but I can t help but wonder if that s the real reason or if I m starting to go through the change. The cramps are so bad I ve been in bed all day with a heating pad.
