i think the plane crash was in the 60's the plane it self was never found and i thnk he was the son of john rockerfellar

You might be thinking of Michael Rockefeller, son of Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, he disappeared in Nov.1961 while on an anthropological expedition in New Guinea.

You want to try the late 30's and, he was an adventurer. It wasn't Australia, it was in the Indonesian islands North of Australia, a small but habited island of head hunters. They did through much interpetations and investigations determine that he probably tried to swim from his downed plane off shore and simply didn't make it. Another story is that some natives picked him up by boat and brought him to shore and, down the river they lived on, killing him in the end. No one will ever know the truth.
