Don't you just go crazy when you get on the telephone and are told you have 6 options, so you listen, choose the one you want, press, and then, viola! You get another three or four options. And you are not talking to a human being!

So, we wonder where our time goes? It's the flipping telephone. What used to take a few minutes takes three times as long. And God forbid if you want to talk to the Head Honcho of the Bank or Company.

I find myself putting off all business calls, and emailing or writing letters. That takes time too! It's been a long week!

Yes, but in many cases you can press 0 and go directly to an operator. I fully agree with you. Recently I needed tech support from my new ISP. For half an hour I was forced to answer automated questions, and pressing 0 in that case didn't work. Three days later someone from the company called with a service survey. I didn't hesitate to tell them to get rid of the automated system because when people call with technical issues they want to talk to a human, not have to repeat steps they knew enough to take before calling.

I find a certified letter to whomever I need to reach works far quicker than their phone systems

I understand your plight, but not the question...

It sucks, but it IS all about efficiency.
