Yeah I think that's true. There are no extraordinary people. Some may have done more than others, but that doesn't make them extraordinary because they're still human.

Hi,
There are some truly gifted (extraordinary) people and there is some fascinating research being done into what makes people gifted. 'Ordinary people picking up where others left off', no, I can't agree with this. Perhaps it happens now and again that one person's idea triggers off great thoughts in another in which case something has made that other person quite special to be able to come up with the more exceptional notion. Some will persevere where others give up. What is it that makes them more determined, more focused, more dedicated than others? Why are some more visionary, more insightful?
Picking up where others left off, examples to contradict this thought: Toby Rosenberg, in all the five years of his life, has never been your typical toddler. At age 14 months, Toby could read aloud from posters his stroller passed by. A year later, he spoke both Polish and English fluently, and at the age of 4, he compiled a dictionary of hieroglyphics after visiting a museum shop and perusing through a book on ancient Egypt. From Mozart to those like Toby Rosenberg, some children have since their birth amazed the world with their incredible intellect and abilities that can at times outdo even the brightest of adults. Why is this so? Are they true geniuses? Truly extraordinary?

And then you have people like me.. Nay, not people like me, but a person like me. I do not claim to be ordinary. I think, therefore I am is my motto. What I think is important, what I do is better, my opinion is the only one people have a right to have, I am number 1 in the universe.
That's not me, you say? You're right. I guess I am just an ordinary genius after all. Or ordinary in an extraordinary way, or maybe both or neither. Who can really judge what is ordinary? Kids that write books on hieroglyphs? might be ordinary on Mars. Might be where he's from, might not, who can say with certainty. Anyways, it's a concept worthy of thought.

It is meant for us ordinary people not to feel inferior, but it cuts no ice this way. I would prefer to think that there are indeed some extraordinary people, but besides their specific area of excellence, they are far below ordinary in all else, which balances out their being extraordinary in some field.

i like to think there are extraordinary people. geniuses and deserving stars. life wouldn't be the same if we didn't have people to exalt.
we should all have our personal versions of extraordinary people, whoever they may be.
although i do get that "ordinary" people aren't nearly acknowledged enough for what they do, all helping to turn the wheels for only a lucky few to claim as their own work. i guess that's life.
