I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a "reader's choice" list of favorite books.
I hope this helps.

The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot is fun, especially if you're a fan of the Angus series. I haven't like the most recent additions to the series, but the first couple are really enjoyable.
Currently I'm reading The Dark is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper and liking it a lot. It's a great fantasy series, beginning with Over Sea, Under Stone. And there's a movie coming out later this year.
Another good series is The Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce which begins with Alanna: The First Adventure.
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Air by Diane Wynne Jones
The China Garden by Liz Berry
and since no one has suggested it yet, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I just started it today, but I like it so far.

Try the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. The style is similar to Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging.
I also really enjoy the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.

Inkheart, Inkspell, & The Final, Inkdeath, (due out September 9, 2007) by Cornelia Funke.
Also, Fablehaven and Rise of the Evening Star, by Brandon Mull.
Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo (Series) by Obert Skye
These are all fun, fantasy books.
Twilight (another series) is also a lot of fun fantasy/romance - by Stephanie Meyers.
