is it not rude not to say anything i think not saying anything says the baby is UUGGLY

My god, there are some ugly babies out there aren't there?! I just try and be polite and say "Ah, what a wee cutie pie!" Some look like little old men, I have to try not to laugh! I'd never tell them the truth. I have an 8 month old daughter and I'd be crushed if someone said to me what an ugly baby I had. Sometimes it's just safest to say they're cute. 'Cute' can encompass all sorts of things!

This is kind of hard to admit to myself or to anyone else but the answer is that I have thought something similar to this. Normally all babies are cute but there have been times when I've seen babies and told the parents or grandparents that the baby was cute when, in fact, I was thinking that the baby was kind of homely. As I was thinking this, I was feeling guilty--not for telling a "little white lie" but for thinking a sweet innocent baby was homely. That just didn't seem like I was a very nice person for even thinking such a thing. :oI

Of course I tell them their baby is gorgeous. It would be rude and akward to say their baby is ugly and not saying anything is even more rude. In my head, I'm just trying to think of the nicest way to walk away without being too obvious

YES!!!!!!!!!!! OMG !! There are some ugly ones out there! The way I see it is that most babies are ugly. But after like a month or two they are as cute as can be. So there isnt anything wrong with them being ugly cause most are... except ur own...then you think they are the cutest ever.

Yeah, well that happens lots. Early babies are not generally cute, some babies take a bit longer to grow into their cuteness. You just go, "Wow! Look at you! Aren't you something! Your Mommy and Daddy must love you so much!" Because let's face it, they probably look like Mom & Dad.

A lady I know taught me a good line when faced with a not so cute face. She simply says "Oh, aren't babies cute?" She's not lying to them and saying THEIR baby is cute but she is also not being obvious of her true feelings on the baby's appearance and offending the parent.

Why would you say that if you think the exact opposite? That's lying, is it not? I pick a particular feature that I could come to find endearing and comment on that instead. "Pretty" and "beautiful" are words that should be left for babies that are truly that.

If you tell someone they have an ugly baby, then they end up saying things like "n u r" instead of typing like an adult. So no, I just keep it to myself.

but i really don't think that babies are ugly or scary.
