Why socks can't commit and stay a couple? They keep disappearing, and only one sock is usually present! I have a long white sporty sock, a short pink sock, a flowery sock and a striped sock. I rolled them into balls, as I was taught, to keep them together, and today I unrolled one ball, and it was only ONE sock inside!
Do they have a commitment problem?

Unlike wire coat hangers and mobile homes, socks do indeed have a commitment problem. Wire hangers get in those dark closets and breed. You can never catch mobile homes doing the deed, but they do indeed multiply. Socks are notoriously promiscuous, and always want to try something new. Exactly where did your flowery sock come from? Do you even know? My advice is to marry them up as soon as you bring them home, if they've not been married at the store, and never put temptation in their way.

Do two things: when you remove your socks, tie them together in the middle. Don't roll into a ball. Just tie them together. Also buy a net mesh bag and put your socks into the bag when you wash them. You should be able to find the bag at places like WalMart or National Wholesale Liquidators.

MAN!! I knew something was up! I have a flowery sock that doesn't belong to me at all! Must be the mate to yours.
We really need to figure out how to keep them from running off this way. It's making us look bad. What will the neighbors think!?

We solved our Socks commitment problems by safety pinning them together at all times other than wearing them, Now if they disappear they at least have the decency to do it together - LOL

Seriously get a big package of safety pins

what i do to stop this problem is always buy the same kind of socks and all in the same color (white) that way when ido laundry i don't have to worry about mix matching socks. i buy my daughter and husbands socks the same way. the only dif between mine and his is size and mine has gray heels and his has gray toes. my daughter's socks are real little so i don't have to worry about mixing them with ours. i also have one hamper that only socks go in that way socks are washed seperate from evey thing else. the only problem i have (or did have) is washer eating jessi's socks.

This is a crazy problem for everyone, just can't explain why it happens. But this might help use a pillow case to wash them in just tie the end or a bag made for undergarments, use safety pins to keep them together before they go in the laundry.

yea socks are tough..especially when u have big loads of laundry...the best way to keep them together is when u take off your pair..tie them together when u put them in the dirty clothes, then when you wash them put one sock into the other..that way when u take them out and fold them they're both still there

no.. every now and then, one of the socks go to the sock-hop, and gets drunk, and forget it's way home, and figures that it will be in trouble, so it just stay away. outta sight outta mind..
