Hi,

I'm building a new computer and i don't know which graphics card is best for my pc without my processor bottlenecking it. The processor i'm using is an Intel Pentium 3 Tualatin 1.4GHz. Any idea what's the best nvidia 6 series card for this cpu? i don't want to waste money on a card that will be bottlenecked.

Thanks!

ATI 9600 Pro or Geforce 7300GS AGP would be just right, especially if you will overclock that P3 some more. BUT your processor is not really that good for games. A system built on the socket A format and using a Duron 1.8Ghz or the cheap Sempron 2400+ or 2600+ would perform better.

It is impossible for your processor to bottleneck the graphics card. The graphics card go way faster then any cpu there is on the market today. Your graphics card will just be waiting on your processor.
You have a pentium 3, which is outdated, i assume you are buying a new graphics card to play games? You would have a better game experience if you upgraded your motherboard and processor to a Pentium 4 with HT technology, or the newer Dual Core/Core 2 Duos.

The geforce 6 series is just fine for low-medium graphic settings, 7 series gets medium-high and 8 series is also medium-high.

heres what u need to do

go to newegg.com, go toamd porcessors. find 1 that has a combo deal sale going on, u can get 3200+ or better and a motherboard for less than 150. make sure the motherboard has a pci e x16 slot for the graphics card. get an nvidia 8500 or 8600 with 256mb ram. this will run you around 100.

the processor ur running is so old if u dont have enough money for all this ur better off waiting till u do.

Your are building a computer with a Pentium 3 Tualatin 1.4GHz introduced in 2002 and a 6 series card introduced in 2004. Don't even bother. What do you plan on running on this new computer built to a 4-5 year old computer design?

You can buy a P3 1.6GHz on eBay for $60 (check the completed listings for sale prices of comparable computers)

You can buy a P4 2GHz for under $100.
