I can speak either Midlands American or King's English. I pronounce my h with a gentle outbreath of air.
The way you are indicating might be Black English, Urban or ghetto English, or some other dialect such as Brooklynese.

It is " hwat" , but you never place so much emphasis on the "h" so that it can be obviously heard. You should have to listen very carefully to be able to hear it, but it's there. It is different than the plain old "w' in "want."

It all depends on where you come from and personal preference. There is no set rule about whether the word what is said 'hwut', 'hwot', 'wuht', or 'wot'. The 'h' may be stressed slightly or unstressed.
The following link has audio of all of the ways of saying 'what'.

i dont pronounce the 'h' either and find it weird when people do! i think most who do say the 'h' come from the south, but even the majority of southerners don't say it.

Wat. But it isn't true of all "wh" words. Think of "whole", which is pronounced "hole".
