my friend is 18 wks pregnant with her first child. she was not a thin woman, nor a fat one, before she got pregnant. She says that she can SEE baby movement across her belly already. I mean the baby is moving to the point of her husband noticing the baby's sharp and sudden movements. With my first i didnt see movement across the belly like that until my 7th month and 6th months with my second child and I am not fat or even pudgy. has anyone SEEN movement from their baby at 18 weeks or earlier? she says she's been seeing this movement since about 13-14 weeks. personally we think it's twins. but maybe it's just a big baby.

I didn't see those big movements on the outside of my tummy before 6-7mths either. Maybe her dates are wrong??? If she has had a scan, tell her to get another one to make sure 1 baby wasn't hiding behind the other one. Its rare but possible. She could just be having a big baby, but then I had a big one first time and I still didn't get the huge movements before 6mths.

With my first child I felt movements at like 12 weeks. It was just a little tiny butterfly type of feeling. I talked to my doc and she told me that it could be possible, some women are just more in tune with their body. I actually saw movement around 18 weeks. My fiance actually felt them with me.

Now, I am pregnant with my second. I am a few pounds heavier than with my first. I can feel movements and have since around the same time as my first. I am now 19 weeks and they are much more frequent. I have not felt anything on the outside just yet but the feeling is much more intense now than at 12 weeks.

Both times it has been just one child!! My daughter was tiny at birth, the one I am having now is right on target with his measurements. I don't think the size has anything to do with it! I did see movements with my daughter around 24 weeks, but not any sooner. Maybe she's wanting to see it so bad she's imagining it???

I have twins anf they were a good size for twins when I gave birth. I didn't see movement until much later than that and I was 5'8 and 112 pounds when I got pregnant so I was thin. At 17 weeks was when I first felt them move. Why doesn't she go get an ultrasound. That should answer all of her questions.

I dont want to call her a liar, but I personaly was not even able to feel the baby on the outside until 25 weeks, and a few weeks after that I noticed that you could begin to see the baby move, the further along I got themore you could see himmove. im now 38 weeks and he has pretty much ran out of room to move around now.

I highly doubt she seen this at 13-14 weeks, the baby i sjust to tiny at that point. She must have just had gas.

Good luck

I did with my first. Not as early as 13-14 weeks, but at 18 weeks. Of course every child is differant and the activeness of each child is differant. My first was ACTIVE, kicking, punching...would wake up my husband at night if I had my stomach laying against him.
My second rolled allot, but didn't kick or do harsh movements as much.
My third didn't move very much at all and I found out later that it was due to some complications.
Every womans pregnancy is differant and every baby acts and carries differant.

I have 2 kids and I don't remember actually seeing any kicking until 7 months with my son and 6 months with my daughter (she was 2lbs bigger). If they already have visible kicking it's possible that it's multiples. At 20 weeks she should be able to have the ultrasound and they can determine from there. It may also be possible that the uterus is in the wrong position and the baby is really sitting close to the outside of her abdomen in which case she should be very careful not to bump counters and such.

whats with all the twin questions tonight lol! I am 14 weeks with twins and I still dont think that I can feel them moving let along see them...I had an ultrasound today and my 14wk twins are only 4oz....so you do the math at 18w they cannot possible be more than 8oz...do you really think that 8oz is gonna be enough weight, even with super human strength, to make a movement strong enough to move the muscle, fat, and skin of the mom so that she can see it....maybe she is just hopeful....who knows but I highly doubt that she can see anything even if it is HUGE for gestation age twins....

ive never heard of anything like that. i am a very small person and i couldnt even feel the first flutters until 14 weeks. the baby isnt that strong yet. what she could be seeing is the increased blood flow to her belly making it move. mine does it when i lay on my back and my husband swears up and down that he can feel it already. but as strange as it sounds to me, i have heard of stranger things happening to women!

everyone is different. and i can vouch for her because i seen a flutter move across every so quickly at 14 weeks with my first. it depends on the position of the baby coz they move around in heaps of different postions coz there is still plenty of room. doubt would be twins, coz her belly would be alot larger and look like shes 6-7months
