92 Ford Taurus V6 3.0L. I have already tried flushing and vaccuuming the whole system. The AC blows ICE cold forever when idling, but when I drive for about 10 minutes the clutch stops kicking on. The AC quits working all together. If I let the car sit for about 30 minutes to an hour the AC will function properly again. The water drain is not blocked because it wets the ground with big puddles, and the floor boards are never wet. I'm guessing the evap core could be freezing up, I don't know.

New evidence to light. The a/c work fine at night when it is cool.

Car has after market intake on it. The hot air from the radiator fan blows past the tubing and hit the firewall. Could that sort of heat affect it? Just a thought.

Take it to an air conditioning specialist to get fixed.

Mike-

From what you are saying it sounds like there might be a blockage in the system somewhere.

I would suggest that you not only flush the system again, but also replace the Orifice Tube and the Receiver/Dryer or what is also called an Accumulator.

The Orifice Tube has a little screen on it that is designed to catch any debris in the system, the same with the Accumulator. This has a large bag shaped filter inside it to capture and hold metal shavings from the compressor.

Sometimes these two items can get clogged after years of use and like an oil filter just need to be replaced.

If after you replace these items and the condition continues, there is another issue, and without the car to look at, I strongly recommend at that point to have your Dealership look at the car and make any necessary repairs.

I know that is probably not the news you wanted, but at this point its the best advice I can give you!

Good Luck!
