For some reason Americans have a dislike for 'u's' so they omit them from many English words:
e.g. colour, neighbour, neighbourhood, labour, favour, favourite, savour.
They also change 'y's' to 'i's' e.g tyre, tire and change 's's' to 'z's' e.g organise, organize, civilise, civilize.
I guess they think it helps people to pronounce the words properly. It can be very annoying if you have a word processing programme (program) that has an American spell checker (like the one Yahoo answers is using and is underlining all the words I have mentioned above as I am typing them)

Colour is the spelling used in the U.K. and related countries. Color is used in the U.S.

there is no difference, its the same word, colour i think is how they spell it in like european countries they do that with a lot of words like well i can't think of one but yeah, no difference

In UK and Australia it's "colour".
Simple really. Don't stress.
