Spotting:
Women experience spotting for various reasons: it can be as simple as ovulation, or more complex, as infections of the vagina, bladder, cervix or endometrium (uterine lining). Other possible causes include polyps, little fleshy growths in the uterus; cervical dysplasia, abnormal cells in the cervix; cancer; pregnancy complications; the wrong birth control pills or hormonal imbalances.

It's called spotting and can be quite common. If it keeps happening, have a check up with your OB/GYN just to make sure everything is ok - generally its nothing to be concerned about.
